The Men’s Ministry at St Michael and All Angels CCAP Church in Blantyre has proven that it is possible for believers to live their faith by not only evangelising to lost souls, but also offering a helping hand to destitute families.

The ministry has demonstrated this spirit by building a house for a poor and elderly couple in Nkolokoti Township in the city.

In his sermon before officially handing over keys for the house to the 69-year-old Ephraim Kamwendo and his wife Enily, Reverend Masauko Mbolembole said faith without action is dead.

Mbolembole, who based his preaching on James 2:14—19, said true faith corresponds with actions. He, therefore, challenged Christians to start living their faith if poor Malawians are to benefit from them.

“If a brother or a sister is naked and has no food, yet one of you says to them: ‘Go in peace, keep warm and well fed,’ but you don’t give them the necessities for their body, of what benefit is it?” he wondered.

The cleric urged the couple to trust in God, saying a house alone cannot save one from destruction.

The ministry’s chairperson Jimmy Lipunga said one of the members, a Mr. Chirambo, knew about the challenges the couple was going through when he [Chirambo] went for an outreach ministry in the township.

Lipunga commended the Community Sphere which spearheaded the construction work.

The project cost the ministry K1 million, according to Lipunga.
